Going from madrid airport to city center8/18/2023 Have a great trip, carry a money belt, use the taxi from the airport and enjoy Spain. Just be aware though that it is all around you. Our bad for being so out of it and being a victim for the second time. Nothing there to steal but in our son's backpack they got his old iPhone we were planning on putting a sim card in and using it as a wifi device. I had the Rick STeve's money belt on this trip and didn't even take a purse. The plane ride is even fasterbefore you take into account arriving at the airport and checking inand is often cheaper than the train as well. Then later use the metro to get around knowing that there are lots of pick pockets targeting travelers. Malaga is one of Spains best-connected cities, with a high-speed train route directly to Madrid that gets you from city center to city center in under three hours. We used the metro all throughout our trips and in London but on that initial trip into the city when you are most vulnerable, tired, trying to figure out the system of money and metro etc, then it is best to just get to the hotel via taxi and spend the money. P - What pick up time should I choose R. Both times we have been victims of pick pockets on the metro. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get to Barajas Airport from the city centre. With the jet lag and luggage, I would definitely recommend taking a taxi. Looking back this is the second european trip we have done this (last one being to Paris). Since it would require two taxis we opted to take the bus from the airport to Atocha and then switch to metro.
